Nicolas Chonville, 19, France, and Aude Vansnick, 23, Belgium

“We’re from the University of Liege in Belgium, so we’re really looking forward to the innovation of each country that’s going to be showcased at Expo 2020. And we’re really interested in the architecture, especially since there are many cultures and countries participating here. We’re really going to cover as much as we can during our stay.”

Beatrice Maurizi, 28 and Eduardo Maurizi, 25, Rome, Italy, Tourists

“We travelled for the Expo 2020 Dubai specifically. We are looking forward to the futuristic technologies, especially since it is focused on sustainability, opportunity, creativity, mobility and a lot of important things. We’re really eager to know what the city has in store for the Expo 2020 Dubai and we’ll be going around all the pavilions — that’s the main plan!”

Yerko, 28, Kazakhstan

“I travelled to Dubai for a vacation, and decided to stay and visit the Expo 2020 Dubai. I love the experience so much. However, there is so much to cover and I don’t think one week is enough. I’m from Kazakhstan and I want everyone to visit the pavilion because it’s my home, and I want to invite you all home. Plus, I want to visit other country pavilions as well. But, before you do, please plan your journey.”

Andrew Rymarenko, 32, Ukraine

“We’re a team of students from Ukraine who have come to Dubai as part of an architectural competition. Expo

2020 Dubai is a gift for us, especially since we just won an architecture competition. We are so excited to see what’s in store for us at one of the biggest events in the world.”

Max Beacock, 26, Canadian, Tourist

“I travelled especially for

Expo 2020 Dubai from

Canada. I had also previously attended the World Expo in Milan, in 2015. I am very excited to see everything as I have gotten the weekly pass. I’ll definitely come here more than once during my trip. I am most excited for the Opportunity district and Sustainability district. In the future, I’d like to see things happening at Expo 2020 Dubai being scaled around the world.”

Alexandryne, 29, Switzerland

“We’re here to have fun, learn about different cultures and have a good time. We’re looking forward to seeing music shows … also our country Switzerland’s pavilion.”

Netra Jayakumar, 28, Indian

“It’s my first time in Dubai, and I’ve been here for more than a month now. I saw the opening ceremony live last night and I was really excited right then to come and visit Expo 2020 Dubai, and be a part of it, especially since the world has gathered at one place. I travelled exclusively for Expo 2020 Dubai and chose this part of the time as I wanted to be here on the very first day. … Expo 2020 Dubai was definitely part of the plan.”

Madina, 31, Kazakhstan

“We came all the way from Kazakhstan to see the Expo

2020 Dubai. It’s really great for exploring. Some of the pavilions we’ve visited so far are Kazakhstan, China, USA, Belarus and Italy.”

Rita Viola, 40, Portuguese, Tourist

“I really like Dubai, and I expect to see a lot of good ideas for the future. It’s my first visit to Dubai, and I travelled exclusively for the Expo 2020 Dubai, so I am really hopeful for what the city has in store for us.”

Rapke, 55, German

“It’s my first time ever at a World Expo … it turned up on the news, so I wanted to know what was going on. I want to see the Mobility Pavilion the most — we need to know how we can have safer mobility for the future.”
