DP World Tour drives Guido

Italian opens up about his future plans and the reason he’s drawn to Dubai

- BY NICK TARRATT Special to Gulf News

Gulf News caught up with Dubai resident, Olympian and Italian golfer Guido Migliozzi ahead of the DP World Tour Championship.

Guido, you are a Dubai resident, what made you decide to take up residency?

The quality of all the practice facilities in Dubai is second to none, it is guaranteed good weather, everything is relatively close by and accessible and last, but not least, the Shake Shack Burgers on Deliveroo.

What are your goals?

I would like to get a tournament win soon after a few runners-up spots and I would like to cement myself in the top 50 in the world rankings.

I would like to earn my PGA Tour Card and, of course, play myself into the European Team for The Ryder Cup in Rome in 2023. That would be pretty special.

When will we next see you in Dubai?

I will be playing in the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai, on Earth course at Jumeirah Golf Estates, in November later in the year.

Where do you practise in Dubai?

I practise mainly at Jumeirah Golf Estates.

Do you have a favourite golf course in Dubai?

It would have to be the Majlis Course at Emirates Golf Club.

What was your experience like at The Olympics representing Italy?

The Olympics was an unbelievable experience and one I won’t forget, it was a shame that we couldn’t take family out there to share the experience, but to represent and wear my countries colours is something that will stay with me forever.

?? ?? Guido is looking to break into the top 50 in the world and go one better after a string of runner-up finishes.
