3 federal authorities merged
President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan yesterday issued a decree establishing the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security.
The new entity merges the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, the Federal Customs Authority, and the General Authority of Ports, Borders and Free Zones Security.
It will regulate the affairs of citizenship, passports, entry and residence of foreigners, oversee ports, borders and free zones’ security as well as manage customs operations. It will prepare policies and legislation.
The new authority is tasked with developing and updating the population registry and personal data system as well as setting up systems to issue identity cards to citizens and residents.
