Man gets death for killing kids, wife

An Egyptian man convicted of murdering his six children and wife five months ago has been sentenced to death.

The Criminal Court in Fayyoum set December 2 for a final verdict. When the trial opened last month, the 34-year-old man told the court he did not want a defence lawyer and asked for a final ruling.

In May, the convict, who owned a bakery and was allegedly in debt, laced juice with sleeping pills for his wife and children before killed each of them with a knife. He then attempted to take his own life, but was stopped and handed over to police.
