Boy dies after being beaten by classmates

A 13-year-old Egyptian boy died after being beaten severely by his classmates over the priority of classroom seating in a school in Kafr Al Sheikh, north of Cairo.

Mohammad Helmi Shehata of grade 8 was assaulted by three classmates in the fight over getting first-row seats.

The teen suffered a brain haemorrhage and died after being in coma for four days.

Mohammad Abdullah, Undersecretary at Ministry of Education, said an investigation has been launched. “I visited the victim and met with his parents. I listened to their testimonies and ordered a committee to probe the incident.”
