Timeless actor: Nedumudi Venu

-

The death of veteran Malayalam actor Nedumudi Venu is shocking (“A look at the life and times of top Kerala actor Nedumudi Venu”, Gulf News,

Oct. 11). The talented actor who once was a renowned theatre artist started his film career in ‘Thambu’, directed by G Aravindan in 1978.

His unique style of acting and talent made him one of the finest actors in Indian cinema. His versatility was something that moviegoers cherished — his effortless acting made him a favourite actor for Keralites and others across the globe.

He was an encyclopedia when it came to acting. I got few chances to attend his theatre workshops, and the experience was magical. He always said, ‘unlearning is the key, be it anything.’ He was a gem of a person — very down-to-earth and kind. It was a humbling experience to meet him.

He was truly a talented person by all means. The way he would recite a poem captured the attention of many. Leaving behind a legacy of excellence, a glorious chapter of Malayalam cinema has ended with his demise.

His death leaves a void in the film industry.
