Professor gets 7-year jail on terror charges
Kuwait’s top court confirmed a seven-year jail term for a university professor convicted of bankrolling terrorism in Syria.
The Court of Cassation also ordered the convict and two others to pay a fine of 700,000 dinars and confiscated 668,00 dinars in their possession. The convict is a teacher at an Islamic Sharia law faculty.
The court handed down a similar sentence to his brother and confirmed a five-year-jail term against a third defendant.
The three were prosecuted last year for illegally collecting nearly 500,000 dinars for the Al Nusra Front, an affiliate of Al Qaida in war-torn Syria.
