No respite for Aryan in drug case

Bombay High Court to hear bail appeal on October 26

- MUMBAI

ASpecial Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) court yesterday extended the judicial custody of Aryan Khan and others till October 30 in the cruise ship drug case.

On Wednesday, the special court refused to grant bail to Aryan — the son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan — and two others in the case. Aryan’s lawyers then moved a bail application in the Bombay High Court, which yesterday said that it would hear the bail plea on October 26.

On October 2, a Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) team busted an alleged drugs party on the Cordelia Cruise ship which was on its way to Goa. A total of 20 people, including two Nigerians, have been arrested so far in the case.

Earlier yesterday, Shah Rukh Khan met his son in the Arthur Road Jail. He left after 20 minutes — the maximum time allowed for the visitors — with Aryan.

Owing to Covid-19, the Shah Rukh met his son through a glass wall and talked to him through an intercom. Earlier in the day, an NCB team visited the residence of Shah Rukh Khan to gather “material” related to the case. NCB Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede dismissed reports terming the visit as a “raid”. — Agencies
