Stung by the reversal in the opener against Scotland, the Tigers brought out their best in the next two games to tell the world that they are not a spent force yet. Veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and skipper Mahmudulla­h stood up to be counted and led the revival of Bangladesh in the qualifiers.

Having successful­ly completed the task of entering the Super 12 stage, Bangladesh need to continue in the same vein and cannot afford to drop the guard. After defeating PNG, Mahmudulla­h said it is important for the team to get a good start, hence it is imperative that the openers will play a crucial role in Sharjah where they meet Sri Lanka tomorrow.
