PM vows to put economy back on track

SHEHBAZ HINTS OF A SPEECH TO NATION ADDRESSING CHALLENGES

-

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif yesterday expressed his resolve to overcome economic challenges with the support of coalition partners in the government.

Addressing the party workers and people at Raiwind after offering Eid Al Fitr prayers, the Prime Minister said, “Pakistan is currently under severe economic stress, but there is no need to get worried, as under a collective responsibility, they along with the support of other allied parties will not leave any stone unturned to address these issues”.

The prime minister also hinted that he would soon address the nation and mention these challenges in detail.

He also prayed to Allah Almighty that the auspicious day of Eid might be a harbinger of progress and prosperity, enabling them to steer the country out of the difficult situation.

The prime minister said his government would ensure the nation’s march towards progress and prosperity with dedication, hard work and honesty.

Word of gratitude

The prime minister also thanked the people and party workers for their steadfast support for the PML-N leadership when it faced trials and tribulations in recent years. The Sharif family and the PML-N leadership would never forget the staunch support of the people and party workers, he added.

On the occasion, Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Sharif also addressed the gathering.

He assured that his government would restart the journey of fast-paced progress that had been stalled in the last four years.

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Rana Sana Ullah Khan said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government was replaced as it had lost its majority in parliament and its blunders were the main cause of its ouster.

Talking to the media in Samanabad, he said that in a democratic set-up any government had to maintain its majority in the elected house but the PTI could not convince its allies to support it. He said the incompetent PTI government had played havoc with economy.

“On the day of Eid, we pray to Allah Almighty to guide us to overcome challenges facing the country,” he added. He said: “We are optimistic that Pakistan will soon restart its journey towards a progressive and prosperous country.

The interior minister said that general elections would be held during the next 12-14 months and the nation would elect its future leadership.

Responding to a query, he said that the government had nothing to do with the cases registered against PTI leadership about the incident at the Prophet’s Mosque.

“The government is neither a party, nor a complainant nor witness in any such case. However, the cases filed by people whose religious sentiments were hurt with this incident will be investigated purely on merit as law will take its own course”, he said adding that the infamous incident was engineered by the PTI. The PTI UK organiser, Sahibzada Jahangir, was specially sent in to foment trouble, he charged.
