ABU DHABI RULER MOHAMMAD BIN ZAYED LEADS TRIBUTES FOR LATE PRESIDENT; TO ACCEPT CONDOLENCES TODAY
His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler of Abu Dhabi, yesterday led the funeral prayer for late UAE President Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the Shaikh Sultan Bin Zayed the First Mosque in Abu Dhabi. Shaikh Khalifa was laid to rest at Al Bateen Cemetery in Abu Dhabi.
Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed will accept the condolences of Their Highnesses, the Federal Supreme Council Members, the Rulers of the Emirates at Al Mushrif Palace today.
Earlier In a tweet, Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed said: “The UAE has lost a loyal son, and the leader of its blessed empowerment journey, whose achievements, wisdom, giving and efforts are embodied in every corner of our country. Khalifa bin Zayed, my brother, supporter and mentor, may Allah Almighty grant you eternal peace.”
His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, mourned the passing of Shaikh Khalifa.
In a tweet, Shaikh Mohammad said: “With great sadness, we mourn the death of our leader and President, Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. I pray to Allah Almighty to grant him peace in Paradise. Shaikh Khalifa was a dedicated leader who served and loved his people, a love they reciprocated, and we ask Allah Almighty to grant us solace and patience.”
Also performing funeral prayers for Shaikh Khalifa were shaikhs of the Al Nahyan family. They prayed to Almighty Allah to bless Shaikh Khalifa.
Messages of condolences poured in from around the region and world. Heads of state hailed Shaikh Khalifa as a pioneering statesman. Shaikh Khalifa became President on November 4, 2004, and marshalled the UAE’s journey to progress and prosperity.
