A leader who exemplifie­d the spirit of service

RULERS, SHAIKHS PAY RICH TRIBUTES TO KHALIFA AND HIS DEDICATION TO THE PEOPLE OF UAE AND HUMANITY AT LARGE

Rulers of the emirates and Shaikhs paid rich tributes to President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan who passed away at the age of 73 yesterday.

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, said in a tweet on his official Twitter account: “With great sadness, we mourn the death of our leader and President, Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. I pray to Allah Almighty to grant him peace in Paradise. Shaikh Khalifa was a dedicated leader who served and loved his people, a love they reciprocat­ed, and we ask Allah Almighty to grant us solace and patience.”

His Highness Shaikh Mohamad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler of Abu Dhabi, said in a tweet on his official Twitter account: “The UAE has lost a loyal son, and the leader of its blessed empowermen­t journey, whose achievemen­ts, wisdom, giving and efforts are embodied in every corner of our country. Khalifa Bin Zayed, my brother, supporter and mentor, may Allah Almighty grant you eternal peace.”

His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, said the UAE and Arab and Muslim nations have lost a wise leader and a generous man dedicated to serving his country and humanity. In a statement, Shaikh Sultan said: “Our hearts ache over the passing of the beloved Shaikh Khalifa, who continued his late father’s legacy and served the country and its people to his last day. I pray to Allah Almighty to grant him peace in Paradise, and the Al Nahyan family and the UAE people patience and solace.”

His Highness Shaikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, said in a statement: “With hearts that believe in God’ s decree and ability, we mourn the Patron of the Union’s march and the President of the UAE, Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and we offer our condolence­s to the people of the Emirates, the Arab and Islamic peoples, and the world for this great loss. May God place him in the highest Paradise. O God, Khalifa Bin Zayed has fulfilled the trust, so accept him and cover him with the vastness of your mercy and inspire his people, family and loved ones patience and solace. We belong to God and to Him we shall return.”

His Highness Shaikh Hamad Bin Mohammad Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah, said in a statement: “Today, the UAE bids farewell its leader and a national icon, Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed. He was a man with a generous soul and champion of tolerance. The late Khalifa Bin Zayed will go down in history as one of the world’s greatest leaders. I pray to Allah Almighty to grant my brother, my friend and partner, eternal peace.”

His Highness Shaikh Saud Bin Rashid Al Mualla, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, said in a statement: “Today, the UAE bids farewell to its beloved leader, Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed, a man with a generous soul and champion of tolerance. The late president will remain a bright beacon for future generation­s. I pray to Allah Almighty to grant him eternal peace and to rest his soul in Paradise.”

The Court of His Highness Shaikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, extended sincere condolence­s and sympathy to the Al Nahyan family and the UAE people, asking Allah Almighty to grant Shaikh Khalifa eternal peace in Paradise.
