World leaders pay tributes to Khalifa’s legacy
HEADS OF GOVERNMENTS PRAISE THE IMMENSE CONTRIBUTION OF LATE UAE PRESIDENT
World leaders paid rich tributes for President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan who passed away at the age of 73 yesterday.
USA
In a statement, US President Joe Biden said: “Jill [wife of US President and First Lady] and I were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed al Nahyan. Shaikh Khalifa was a true partner and friend of the United States throughout his decades-long tenure as President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, and in his earlier role as Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.”
He added: “On behalf of the American people, I offer my condolences to Shaikh Khalifa’s family and all Emiratis as they mourn this great loss. We will honour his memory by continuing to strengthen the long-standing ties between the governments and people of the United States and the United Arab Emirates.”
FRANCE
French President Emmanuel Macron said in a tweet on his official Twitter account: “My sympathy goes out to his brother, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, his family and the people of the UAE.”
RUSSIA
According to the Kremlin press service, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his sadness over the passing of Shaikh Khalifa, extending his condolences to the UAE leadership, government and people. He noted that Shaikh Khalifa has been a pillar in strengthening friendly relations and establishing cooperation between the two countries.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a tweet on his official Twitter account: “I am deeply saddened to know about the passing away of HH Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed. He was a great statesman and visionary leader under whom India-UAE relations prospered. The heartfelt condolences of the people of India are with the people of UAE. May his soul rest in peace.”

Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, said in a tweet on his official Twitter account: “Deeply grieved to hear about the passing of HH Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of UAE. UAE has lost a visionary leader & Pakistan a great friend.
TURKEY
Turkish President Erdogan extended his condolences and said he would visit the UAE to pay his respects, the Anadolu Agency reported.
ISRAEL
Israeli President Isaac Herzog said in a statement: “On behalf of the people of Israel, I send my deepest condolences to my friend Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed and his family on the death of His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. This is a great loss for our friends in the UAE and for the whole region.”
