Imran to rejoin long march in Rawalpindi on Saturday
To announce future programme ahead of new army chief’s appointment
Former prime minister and Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan in a virtual address to his workers and participants of the long march has announced he will rejoin them in Rawalpindi on Saturday and from there will lead the rally onward.
“There, I shall announce the future plan for the long march and everyone must know this movement is not going to stop,” said Imran Khan.
Khan who is recovering from bullet wounds at home called the long march a historic moment in the political history of the country and urged all his party workers and the Pakistani people to join him for the future of their country and for the sake of their children.
Soft on establishment, hard on government
Imran Khan has strategically chosen November 26 for entering Rawalpindi to rejoin his long march at a time when the government will be appointing the next army chief and the outgoing chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa will be retiring on November 29.
A day earlier, the government had announced Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had done the spadework and consulted allies over the name for the next army chief.
The decision will likely be made by Wednesday, said a senior minister of the government. In that case, the date announced by the PTI chairman to enter Rawalpindi would become irrelevant and hence lose steam.
