Vice-President launches We the UAE 2031 vision
MOHAMMAD: COP28 TO BE MOST SUCCESSFUL CLIMATE SUMMIT
The UAE Cabinet yesterday launched the We the UAE 2031, a national plan and road map for the next 10 years,
“Today, we launched the government vision, We the UAE 2031 that represents our government vision for the next decade,” His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, said in a tweet.
The plan was announced during the annual government meetings, held in Abu Dhabi, which brought together all UAE government entities at the federal and local levels to discuss challenges and strategies related to the country’s national development plan to achieve the objectives of the UAE Centennial 2071.
“We have concluded the previous strategic term in 2021. Today, we begin our journey towards new heights under the presidency, patronage and leadership of my brother, Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed,” the Vice-President added.
The national plan is an integrated programme shaping the future of the country within the next 10 years with a focus on social, economic, investment and development aspects. The plan seeks to enhance the position of the UAE as a global partner and an attractive and influential economic hub. Also, it aims to highlight the successful economic model of the UAE and the opportunities it provides to all global partners.
Shaikh Mohammad affirmed that the next fifty years will focus on strengthening the social and economic ecosystem and building a strong, sustainable and fastgrowing economy by strengthening the UAE’s economic partnerships with the world.
The plan seeks to enhance UAE’s position as a global partner and an attractive, influential economic hub.
Climate action
Shaikh Mohammad expressed confidence that COP28 to be hosted by the UAE in 2023 will be the most successful edition of the annual global climate conference. He made these remarks at the main session of the annual government meetings, which discussed the UAE’s organisation of the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference or the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), commonly referred to as COP28.

The meetings brought together UAE Government entities to discuss challenges and strategies related to the country’s national development plan to achieve the objectives of the UAE Centennial 2071.

Comprehensive roadmap
We The UAE 2031 is a road map in which all government entities and institutions and the private sector will cooperate to ensure advancement of the development process, in accordance with the 10-year framework of the plan.
“The UAE will maintain its position as an economic destination… Economic prosperity, social well-being and development of human capital will be the main pillars of the next 50, Shaikh Mohammad added.
He affirmed that the “next 50” will focus on strengthening the social and economic ecosystem and building a strong, sustainable and fast-growing economy by strengthening the UAE’s economic partnerships with the world and consolidating its development model.

Charter for national plan
Sheikh Mohammed signed a charter for the national plan that represents the most important features of the national plan, the principles of the UAE government and the interdependence and aspirations towards the future.
The launch was attended by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai; Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the UAE.

Also present were Shaikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman; Shaikh Mohammad Bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah; Shaikh Mohammad Bin Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah; and Shaikh Sultan Bin Ahmad bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of Sharjah Media Council.

The event was also attended by Lt Gen Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court; Shaikh Hamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of The Executive Council of Abu Dhabi; Shaikh Khalid Bin Mohammad Bin Zayed, Member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office; Shaikh Theyab Bin Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of The Executive Council of Abu Dhabi; and Sheikha Latifa Bint Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture.
The plan is based on four main pillars that cover all sectors and fields, including the economy, society, ecosystem and diplomacy.
