9th Sharjah International Travel & Tourism Forum kicks off with sustainable goals
DUBAI. The 9th edition of the Sharjah International Tourism and Travel Forum 2022 kicked off yesterday, under the theme ‘Building a Sustainable Future for Tourism’.
In a keynote address, Abdullah Bin Touq Al Marri, UAE’s Minister of Economy, highlighted the tourism infrastructure developed in the UAE and the steps the country is taking to diversify the sector.
He noted that the ministry is collaborating with federal, local and international partners to implement 25 tourist initiatives and policies through which it aims to increase the contribution of the tourism sector to the national GDP by Dh450 billion by 2031. The strategy plans to attract investments in the tourism sector worth Dh100 billion and bring 40 million hotel guests to the region.
