Authorities have issued guidelines and reminders to ensure everyone’s safety while celebrating the 51st UAE National Day on December 2. They also called on “everyone who calls the UAE home” to join in nationwide celebrations.

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) said yesterday “marches and random gatherings are prohibited”. Regarding traffic rules and regulation on decorating vehicles, MoI noted motorists must abide by traffic rules and instructions of police personnel at all times.

Writing any offensive phrase or putting inappropriate stickers on the vehicle is prohibited. Vehicles may not carry passengers more than the allowed number, and no passenger may extend their body out of the window or the sunroof at all times.

Motorists must not disrupt traffic or block the road. Vehicles must not have loud speakers and any unlicensed additions or extensions that restrict visibility and create noise. Front and back number plates must not be effaced; vehicle colour may not be changed, and no blackout or windshield tinting is allowed.

The Abu Dhabi Police also issued instructions to car owners to avoid installing decorative items that can hamper safety. Any car decoration must not modify the colour of the vehicle and parking is not allowed in undesignated spaces, including the hard shoulder, bus stops and taxi laybys.
