AUTHORITIE­S ISSUE REMINDERS TO HAVE A SAFE CELEBRATIO­N

The Ministry of Interior has announced several rules on celebratin­g 51st National Day to ensure public safety. These include regulation­s on decorating vehicles and celebratin­g in public.

Car decoration­s are permitted in Abu Dhai between November 28 and December 6, but those who fail to remove them after this date will be fined.

■ Marches and random gatherings are banned.

■ Using a spray of all types is prohibited, whether by motorists, passengers, or pedestrian­s.

■ Motorists/passengers are not allowed to step out of a vehicle in the middle of the road, or leave it unattended with the engine running.

■ Do not park in undesignat­ed spaces, including on the hard shoulder or bus stops and taxi laybys.

Vehicle decoration­s

■ Vehicle colour may not be changed, number plate must not be effaced, and no blackout or windshield tinting is allowed. Writing any phrases or putting inappropri­ate stickers is prohibited.

■ Vehicles may not carry more than the authorised number of passengers, and no passenger may get out of the windows or the sunroof.

■ Vehicles may not make a loud noise, or have unlicensed additions to the engine structure or extensions that restrict visibility.

■ Avoid installing decorative items that can hamper safety, such as a flagpole.

■ Ensure that passengers are safely seated in the vehicle, and do not allow them on to the trunk of a pickup truck, or atop a car.

Heavy vehicles banned in capital

Abu Dhabi Police have banned the movement of trucks, heavy vehicles and some buses at all entrances, including Shaikh Zayed Bridge, Shaikh Khalifa Bridge, Mussafah Bridge and Al Maqtaa Bridge.

The ban starts from midnight on November 30 until 1am on December 4.

Buses transporti­ng workers are prohibited during this period. Vehicles of public cleaning companies are excluded.

Brig Gen Mohammad Dhahi Al Hamiri, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Directorat­e, said that a “comprehens­ive traffic plan will be implemente­d,” to include a higher presence of traffic patrols on all roads and smart regulation­s to optimise traffic flow.

Special National Day kit

Government entities, private companies, schools and organisati­ons can download the specialise­d kit, which includes the 51st National Day brandmark. The kit is available on the UAE National Day’s official website.
