Leaders remember martyrs’ sacrifices
President His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has said that 30th November is a day that strengthens people’s loyalty to the UAE while remembering the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
In a statement to mark Commemoration Day, observed on November 30 each year, Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed said: “On this day, we stand in admiration and respect for the UAE’s martyrs who lost their lives while protecting the sovereignty of our land and keeping our flag flying high. We vow that their sacrifices will remain etched in the memories of future generations, and we renew our pledge that the UAE leadership will continue to support the children and the families of our martyrs.”
His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, said that on Commemoration Day, the UAE’s leadership and people celebrate the memory of the country’s martyrs and reiterate appreciation for their sacrifices, affirming that their patriotism will remain a beacon of light in the present and future.
President His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan ordered the release of 1,530 prisoners across the country on the occasion of 51st National Day. He also pledged to settle their debts.
The move comes as part of the President’s keenness to give pardoned inmates an opportunity to start a new life and ease the suffering of their families.
His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, ordered the release of 1,040 inmates from punitive and correctional institutions in Dubai.
His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, pardoned 333 prisoners, His Highness Shaikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, ordered the release of 111 prisoners.
His Highness Shaikh Hamad Bin Mohammad Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, ordered the release of 153 prisoners in Fujairah.
The inmates of various nationalities were selected based on good conduct.
