Co-founder Vasu talks about his vision and what makes The Senior Champions Tour click
Gulf News spoke to Vijay Vasu, co-founder of The Senior Champions Tour.
■ How long have you been involved with The Senior Champions Tour?
I have personally been involved with TSCT for 4 years and it is managed by our company, Golf & Co. I am the cofounder of TSCT with Masoud Sobati. We are committed to elevating the quality of events and growing the Tour.
■ Tell us about The Senior Champions Tour.
The Senior Champions Tour spans the entire golfing season in the UAE. It is open to golfers, both male and female, aged 50 and over who hold official handicaps through the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF).
Each event is conducted with an individual Stableford format with handicap index allowance.
We segregate players into two equal divisions, A & B. Our guests enjoy a reduction of 25 per cent on their playing handicap and we offer several on course prizes too at each event. In addition, we have a season-long TSCT Order of Merit with prestigious prizes. Through our partnership with the EGF, we have a Team in the DP World Tour Pro-Am at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship held next month. The top two players from last year’s TSCT Order of Merit will play in the team, plus an additional invitation extended to a Member who wins the Referral Rewards programme.

■ How can people Join TSCT?
Golfers over the age of 50 are invited to join by registering on our website www.tsct.ae. We currently have a promotion where new Members can join and play the first round free for Dh995.
■ What is the TSCT schedule moving forward?
We have monthly gatherings for TSCT. Our remaining fixtures for this season are as below: January 26 — Abu Dhabi Golf Club, National Course; February 22 — JA The Resort, Jebel Ali, Dubai; March 30 — Grand Final, Emirates Golf Club.
■ What is the ultimate vision of The Senior Champions Tour?
We have established a strong Membership at TSCT with over 200 life Members and a loyal attendance at Monthly events limited to 56 players. We add value to our golf days by bringing likeminded people together.”
