Claiming car insurance certificat­e made easy

If you car has been damaged by the recent heavy rains in the UAE, you can now obtain a ‘To Whom It May Concern’ certificat­e entirely online for your motor insurance claims.

The certificat­e is required when you are filing insurance claims for any damage caused to your vehicle. In a post on its official social media accounts on April 16, Dubai Police reminded motorists of the service, which was launched earlier this year, in February.

Previously, motorists had to bring their vehicle to the nearest police station for inspection to verify the cause of damage and then the certificat­e would be issued. Now, all you have to do is attach photos of the damage on the Dubai Police website dubaipolic­e.gov.ae or through ‘Dubai Police’ app, which is available for Apple, Android and Huawei devices.

How to apply for the ‘To Whom It May Concern’ (TWIMC) certificat­e

Visit the official Dubai Police website — dubaipolic­e. gov.ae,andclickon‘Certificat­e Services’ on the homepage.

Next, choose the first option, ‘TWIMC Certificat­e’. Next, enter the details such as your Emirates ID number, email address, enter the location in which the damage occurred, enter the date, and vehicle number plate informatio­n. Then, upload pictures of the vehicle damage.

Dh75 cost

Once you have completed the applicatio­n, pay the service fee for the certificat­e and submit the request. You will then receive a transactio­n number via SMS and email to follow up on the status of the certificat­e.

The cost for the certificat­e is Dh75, along with an additional knowledge and innovation fee of Dh20

According to Dubai Police, it will take two business days to issue the certificat­e and you will receive the certificat­e and receipt through your registered email address.
