In the aftermath of the heaviest-ever rain in the UAE, schools were directed to continue distance learning till the end of the week.

Initially, as rains started on Monday, all public schools across the country were told by the federal Emirates Schools Establishment to switch to distance learning for two days, until yesterday.

Private schools in Sharjah also announced a similar move. Meanwhile, in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, private schools were, at first, instructed by their local emirate-level education authorities to hold online classes for a day (Tuesday), which was extended by another day (yesterday).

It was decided yesterday that distance learning would continue for all schools till the end of the week, until tomorrow. It should be noted that in Sharjah, today is the last day of school as the working week lasts four days (Monday to Thursday).

The remote work system for government employees was also extended until tomorrow.

Based on the directives of the UAE Cabinet, it was decided to continue work from home today and tomorrow for all the federal government employees, except for positions that require presence at the workplace.

The Dubai Government also extended remote working hours for employees of all its entities today and tomorrow. The decision applies to all government employees, except for roles that require on-site presence.

Also, the Sharjah Department of Human Resources extended remote work for employees of all government entities in the emirate until today, excluding jobs that require employees’ physical presence at the workplace.

The remote work decision applies to all government employees, except for roles that require on-site presence at the workplace.
