Indian students in UAE shine in CBSE Grade 10, 12 exams

Teachers, parents join celebratio­ns as many schools see 100% pass rate

Students of UAE’s Indiancurr­iculum schools affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in India have come out with flying colours in the Grade 10 and 12 board exams whose results were declared yesterday.

With many of the schools recording a 100 per cent pass rate, it was a day of congratula­tions and celebratio­ns for not just the students, but also for their teachers and parents.

Stellar performanc­e

Several students scored a perfect 100 on 100 across a series of subjects in Grade 12, even as a good number of Science toppers scored 98 per cent and above. Those in the Commerce and Humanities streams were not far behind.

The performanc­e of Grade 10 students too was stellar, with many of them earning a distinctio­n. It is not yet clear how UAE students fared in comparison with the all-India or internatio­nal average.

The CBSE exams for Class 12 were conducted from February 15 to April 2 while the Class 10 exams were held between February 15 and March 13.

The exams were conducted in a single shift this year, but starting next academic year, students will have the option of taking the board exams twice a year, as directed by the Indian Ministry of Education.

There are over 250 overseas schools affiliated to CBSE. Of them, more than 200 schools are in the GCC, including 106 in the UAE.

The CBSE exams for Class 12 were conducted from February 15 to April 2 while the Class 10 exams were held between February 15 and March 13.

Schools in the UAE affiliated to India’s Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) celebrated stellar results in the Grade 10 and 12 exams.

Delhi Private School Dubai

Delhi Private School Dubai said its students performed brilliantl­y in the Grade 12 exams. Vivin Chrysostor topped in the Science stream with 98.8 per cent, Sadhana Makesh topped Commerce with 98 per cent and Saniya Bhatia topped Humanities with 96.6 per cent.

The school said all 199 students who appeared for the exam secured a distinctio­n, with 62.8 per cent of students scoring 90 per cent and above. The school average rose 2 per cent to 90.4 per cent from last year.

In Grade 10, Aliya Arora topped with 99.4 per cent.

DPS Dubai Principal and Director Rashmi Nandkeolya­r said: “Our results have improved across the spectrum with a 100 per cent pass rate and top scores in all streams. Many students have already been accepted to top universiti­es around the world.”

In DPS Sharjah, Principal Vandana Marwah said 90 per cent of Grade 12 students secured a distinctio­n, with 116 scoring over 90 per cent, All students scored first class and the overall school average was 86 per cent. Shashwat Krishna topped in the Science stream, Vibha Jain in Commerce and Shyla Kapoor in Humanities.

Indian High School

In the Indian High School, Oud Metha, all Grade 12 students scored a first division across all streams, with 70 scoring a perfect 100 across 13 subjects.

Punit MK Vasu, CEO, The Indian High Group of Schools, said: “With a 100 per cent pass rate, the percentage of students securing A1, A2 aggregates has remarkably increased this year.”

The school registered a 100 per cent pass rate in the Grade 10 exams, with 309 students securing an aggregate of 90 per cent and above, and 82 per cent scoring 80 per cent and above.

Vasu said: “These commendabl­e results are the outcome of a carefully planned and executed strategy on the part of our teachers. Right from the beginning of Grade 11, students are encouraged to follow a designated plan under the guidance of chosen leaders and educators.”

Indian Internatio­nal School

The Indian Internatio­nal School, DSO campus, also recorded a 100 per cent pass rate with all students securing a first division. The percentage of students with an above 90 per cent score significan­tly increased this year with 40 per cent of them achieving the distinguis­hed feat. Out of a total of 166 students, 12 received a centum in various subjects.

Emirates National School, Sharjah

Emirates National School, Sharjah, said 43 per cent of 114 students who took the CBSE Grade 12 exam secured 90 per cent and above. Principal Ravi Thomas said that 83 per cent scored more than 75 per cent. in the Science stream, 39 students

secured more than 90 per cent, while 10 scored above 90 per cent in the Commerce stream. Erin Anna Roy topped Science with 95 per cent and Kenneth Paul Kunchattil topped Commerce with 95 per cent.

Indian School Al Ain

Dr Mohammad Iqbal Ahmad, Director (Admin), The Indian School Al Ain, said that Saptha Saju and Sankeerth Kathiran topped with 96.2 per cent in Science and Aathmika Neelakanda­n got 94 per cent in Commerce.

Gulf Indian High School

The Gulf Indian High School, Dubai, once again achieved 100 per cent results in its 37th batch of Class 12 students.

“The school sat 67 students for the Grade 12 exam and all the 67 passed out in first class with 73 per cent of students securing 75 per cent marks and above,” Principal Mohammad Ali Kottakkula­m said. He said that in the Science stream, Husna Saeed Hajwani is the school topper with 94.6 per cent while Lisa Angela Lobo topped the school with 93.4 per cent in Commerce.

JSS Private School, Dubai

At the JSS Private School, Dubai, students celebrated a 100 per cent pass rate in both Grade 10 and Grade 12.

In Grade 12, Harshul Tapan Desai claimed the top spot in the school with an overall score of 98.4 per cent while in Grade 10, Devaki Sunish emerged as the top scorer, achieving an overall score of 98.6 per cent, Principal Chitra Sharma said.

Scholars Indian Private School

The Scholars Indian Private School also marked a full pass rate. Of the 64 students who appeared in the Grade 10 exam, 50 got high distinctio­n and of the 58 Grade 12 students, 40 got high distinctio­ns.

In Grade 12, Rayna Verma scored 96.6 per cent in Science, while Sheelnidhi Ranawat scored 95.9 per cent in Commerce. In Grade 10, Mohammed Farhan Aslam stood first with 96 per cent.
