If you’ve been intrigued
by the licensed spots in City Walk’s The Square – Galvin Bistrot & Bar, Lima Dubai and Toro + Ko – then this might be the best way of tasting all their signature dishes at once. There’s a party vibe in the courtyard thanks to an excellent DJ and although the central al fresco tables, set with umbrellas and multi-coloured wooden tables are most sought after, it doesn’t matter where you sit as you’ll be brought plates from all three restaurants. Two starters from each, a main and a dessert (or dessert platter in the case of Galvin, where pretty pâtisserie were neatly arranged as bite-sized bursts of flavour).
What this means is that you’ll get served 15 constantly changing classics to your table – on the day we went there was a combination of French-style prawn Marie Rose from Galvin, Spanish charcuterie from Toro and tangy ceviche from chef patron Virgilio Martínez Véliz’s Peruvian kitchen.
A hearty squid ink, seafood-topped paella looked enormous but was pretty much polished off and there was an excellent boeuf bourguignon and a juicy grilled chicken for mains. Plus, you can get seconds if you aren’t full – the mushroom arancini was particularly moreish – before heading to the sweet side, which included hot dulce de leche churros.
