OLIVIA COLMAN IS THE FAVOURITE FOR A BAFTA WIN
Hot on the heels of the Golden Globes, at which Olivia Colman picked up the best actress award for her portrayal of Queen Anne in The Favourite (below), the nominations for BAFTA 2019 have been revealed ahead of the glittering ceremony on February 10 at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
And aside from the 44-year-old star being nominated for best actress, the period comedy drama directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, is up for an incredible 12 awards in top categories.
In fact, there might be in-movie competition as there are supporting actress nods for both co-stars Emma Stone, 30, and 48-year-old mother-of-one Rachel Weisz (right).
The Favourite will face some stiff competition for the highly-coveted best film accolade from A Star is Born, Roma, Green Book and BlacKkKlansman -- surprisingly, after its success at the Globes, Bohemian Rhapsody didn’t make the short list.
But whilst the biopic may have missed out on a nomination in the high profile category, the movie’s leading man, Rami Malek, 37, has been nominated for a BAFTA Leading Actor where he will again compete against Bradley Cooper as well as Viggo Mortensen and British actors Christian Bale and Steve Coogan.
