Hello! Middle East - - THE INSIDE STORY -

It may be a city which is fairly blasé about its numerous celebrity visitors – everyone from Abbey Clancy and Peter Crouch to Anthony Joshua and Rio Ferdinand were here to usher in 2019 – but it seems everyone, even royals, were excited when footballing genius Cristiano Ronaldo came to celebrate the new year in Dubai.

And the Juventus striker made sure he enjoyed the good life during his trip, chartering a yacht to take in the view of the Burj Al Arab from the Arabian Sea and getting a bird’s eye view of the emirate from a helicopter.

But the photo that caused the biggest stir was when the 33-year-old was pictured with the Crown Prince.

Cristiano shared a snap of the duo having a “great time together” with his 150 million followers as the Royal also shared his own image with the father-of-four captioned: ‘A great player and a greater friend.’

The Portuguese player was in the country with his family, who made sure they took in some local culture whilst they were here.

Whilst Cristiano was the big draw at the Globe Soccer Awards held at the Madinat Jumeirah, where he picked up the coveted Player of the Year prize, his 24-year-old Spanish other half headed into the desert to learn more about falconry and even took in a camel ride.

It was obviously a fantastic trip, even for a family used to a lavish lifestyle as Spanish sensation who has over 8 million followers wrote on Instagram: “Thank you all for your treatment and hospitality in Dubai during our wonderful stay here.”
