Simply The best
It is hard to believe that the Leaders in Hospitality Awards 2018 are almost upon us. It really does not seem like a year since we celebrated the very best that the hospitality sector has to offer in the region. But upon us they are and if I have not flooded your inbox with constant reminders to get your nominations in then please do so!
After you finish reading this issue of Hotel News Middle East though…
There is a record number of awards up for grabs this year at the event which is taking place at the St. Regis Dubai on 29 April.
The deadline for nominations is 5 April and, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, if you are not in it… you can’t win it.
The awards come at the end of a packed month that will see everybody who is anybody, in this industry, taking to the floor of Arabian Travel Market (ATM) which once again is taking place at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) from 22 – 25 April.
This year’s ATM marks a major milestone for the show’s history as this will be the 25th year it has taken place.
It is somewhat apt, given ATM’S longevity, that this year’s edition will focus on the theme of sustainability.
It is not all about Dubai this month though as there are major events taking place across the emirates as well.
Arabian Hotel Investment Conference (AHIC) is in Ras Al Khaimah from 17-20 April and, once again, promises to be a fantastic event with a who’s who of industry heavyweights already confirmed to take part.
Meanwhile, in Abu Dhabi, HOTEC Middle East will bring together hotel purchasing managers with key domestic and international suppliers.
Hotel News Middle East, as media partners, will be on-site moderating an educational panel discussion as part of an educational seminar.
I barely have space left to tell you about this month’s cover feature. Darren Darwin, general manager Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort, is no stranger to those who follow the industry.
But now he is also being beamed into living rooms across the globe courtesy of the BBC’S Amazing Hotels series which focused an entire episode on Darwin and his team.
Elsewhere, we also catch up with Nikki Beach Hotels & Resorts vice president Alexander Schneider who talks about the changing face of the hotel industry.
That is enough from me for another month, but you never know, I could be congratulating you in person on an award at the end of the month.
Regards, Patrick Ryan
