VANITY FARE
Even in the largest spaces, there is a desire for clean lines and essentialism to imbue the bathroom region with a sense of Zen-like tranquility. However as more and more time is spent in the room, what people want on hand has grown. This has poised a challenge to bathroom players and have led to their exploration of new solutions in the space. The vanity space no longer merely hides the cotton balls or hair brushes, it gets re-invigorate to meet far more complex storage and organizational needs with an aesthetic wallop to match.“Mirrors are considered as feature pieces instead of just a functional item we use under bright light. They are irregular, isolated even, backlit, and full length.
“Storage is the bathroom, beneath the bath and within sink units turns the bathroom into a living area. Dressing tables and book shelves find themselves alongside wash areas. Don’t be afraid to experiment with this new trend - it will aid a relaxed lifestyle. Furniture is placed asymmetrically, casually and with the mirror not necessarily above the basins,” notes the designer Matteo Bianchi.
Loft by Altamarea features internal lighting in its vanity drawer units and wall components, and also features the option of perimeter lighting on its wall systems for enhanced appeal. Villeroy & Bach offers a shower column, with overhead and hand-held shower heads, which includes a closable storage area for hanging a towel and shelf for other items, when space is at a premium.
From Robern and Villeroy & Bach come two high-powered medicine cabinets. Defined by sophisticated organization and storage solutions, the eye-catching M-Series cabinets from US-based Robern includes a number of updates for even more functionality. An automatic interior light illuminates the styling space and a new mounted magnetic strip keeps metal grooming tools neatly arranged to do away with digging through drawers for tweezers and clippers. A dedicated razor holder and adjustable shelves keep contacts, glasses and other daily use items close at hand. What’s more, it features

gets every last drop internal USB port and electric outlet, and an external LED nightlight, which can be programmed in 12-hour increments or controlled with a wall switch. Robern cabinets are modular and can be ganged or stacked to meet specific design and function needs.
Bathroom sanitary ware maker Villeroy & Boch now integrates sound into its More To See 14 and Momento bathroom mirrors, in addition to various light options. The new sound system is entirely hidden in the mirror. Music is transferred and controlled wirelessly by Bluetooth enabled devices. The More To See 14 Sound range is now available in 60 centimetres and 160 centimetres widths; both with a height of 75 centimetres. The mirror features a cool horizontally integrated LED light for added illumination. It can also be outfitted with an optional orientation light for diffused lighting at night. The sound mirrors from the Memento range are available in widths of 60 centimetres, 80 centimetres and 120 centimetres, each being 75 centimetres in height.
“It doesn’t matter whether the space is used by one person on their own or by several people at the same time, because luckily there’s still a key in the lock if you want to be completely alone for a change,”states the IMM Cologne report. “It is a room of almost unlimited possibilities that are still waiting to be discovered.”
