Hanover Page Mill is an 8360-square metre commercial office building in Palo Alto, San Francisco that won the Best Sustainable Development category in the recent Leading European Architecture Forum (LEAF) Awards.

Designed by Form4 Architecture, it has been awarded LEED Platinum certification and is expected to be a net-zero structure in the first quarter of 2018, following a year of stabilised occupancy.

A key feature of this high-performance building is the use of aluminium and glass sunshades, with each elevation designed and engineered to minimise solar heat gain and solar glare on interior spaces.

Photovoltaic panels are located on the office’s roof and carports, and will eventually meet all of its power needs thanks also to continuous spray foam insulation of rear walls and the ceiling insulation of the basement garage which significantly lowered energy demands.
