06 SHENZHEN MASTERPLAN TAKES SHAPE
Construction work has been completed on the Museum of Contemporary Art & Planning Exhibition (MOCAPE), which is part of a masterplan for the new Futian Cultural District. The project combines the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Planning Exhibition, and features a large interstitial space between the two. It boasts column-free and flexible exhibition halls with heights ranging from six to 17 metres, along with a café, book store and museum store. Sustainable design elements include the use of solar and geothermal energy, along with a ground water cooling system, while the museum filters daylight for the exhibition rooms, reducing the need for artificial lighting.
