GLASS ACT
The focal point of Deira Mall, due to be completed in 2021, is a retractable glass roof which will let natural light into the Nakheel complex and allow for open-air shopping during cooler months.
The Dhs6.1 billion shopping, dining and entertainment destination will feature more than 1000 shops, cafes, restaurants and entertainment outlets across 418,000 square metres of leasable space, plus a 353,000-square metre multi-storey car park with 8400 parking bays.
United Engineering Construction is building what will be the biggest mall in the Middle East when it is completed in 2021.
Nakheel Chairman, Ali Rashid Lootah, said: “Deira Mall combines cutting-edge design, worldclass facilities and a stunning location to bring a new dimension to Dubai’s retail sector.”
Deira Mall will be the centrepiece of Deira Central, Nakheel’s 835,000-square metre mixeduse community at the heart of Deira Islands, containing 50 residential and hotel towers, plus mosques and retail and fitness facilities, all set in extensive parkland.
Deira Mall is one of two large-scale retail destinations by Nakheel Malls at Deira Islands. The other, Deira Islands Night Souk, will be the world’s largest night market, with 5300 shops and almost 100 quayside cafes and restaurants. It is due to be completed later this year.
