05 LUND, SWEDEN ON TRACK
C. F. Møller Architects and Elding Oscarson overcame competition from four rivals to secure the chance to transform one of Sweden’s busiest railway stations. The new station, which has been designed to become an iconic modern meeting place, spans across the tracks, adding a valuable new connection to the city, as its vaulted wooden ceiling forms a large indoor plaza binding together Lund’s east and west. The proposal also includes new building volumes featuring commercial premises, restaurants and hotel, and involves the relocation of an existing 19th-century customs building.
