01 AMSTERDAM TRANSFORMATION PROJECT

Floating Gardens is the name of a project designed by Orange Architects, which will transform an existing office building into a primary school on two levels, as well as 190 apartments on the remaining 15 stories above. There will be capacity for a total of 400 children to attend the school which will also be home to a day care centre and pre-school and after-school facilities. Half of the new apartments will be mid-market rental homes, with the remaining flats available for private purchase. All residents will have access to The Living Room, an informal meeting space aimed at creating a sense of community.
