MVRDV and co-architects BSK Arkitekter are to transform one of the city’s few remaining multi-storey warehouses into a 16,500-square metre mixed-use building. Magasin 113 will offer flexible offices, an art centre, pop-up spaces, a café, tourist information, shops, a restaurant and studios. The brick façade and interiors of the warehouse will be restored and repaired, while the scheme also includes the creation of three new levels of timber-framed floors and a new public space. A transparent glass protective ‘raincoat’ will be wrapped around the existing warehouse and its new extension.
