What are some of the biggest lessons you have learned from running your own business?

I have to admit being slightly apprehensive when I launched Arcadia. While I have always been 100% committed to the fragrances I create, I wasn’t sure if they would strike a chord. I wasn’t sure if the narratives behind the scents would resonate with people. But the results have been fantastic, which taught me to believe in myself and be committed to something that I am so passionate about.

How do you support other entrepreneurs to fulfil their dreams?

Whenever I meet someone with entrepreneurial dreams, I tell them to stay true to their vision and passion. I also tell them that it’s best to start small, because not all of us are blessed equally with a safety net. Having that said, if there is a will, there is definitely a way to build it up. Do you think funding is a hurdle? Is the situation improving?

The funding situation is definitely improving under our leadership. HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, is motivating and pushing people with bright ideas, the youth and women to confidently forge ahead and be innovative.
