Ramadan ushers in an upbeat mood
The holy month of Ramadan is traditionally one of the busiest periods for grocery retailers in the Middle East. This year, Ramadan commenced on April 24 – the same day when the UAE lifted the lockdown and eased movement restrictions, announcing the reopening of several retail establishments including shopping malls and retail stores. Saudi Arabia followed with similar announcements. Even though grocery retailers are faced with an unprecedented situation this year, Ramadan began on a positive note.
To meet transformed consumption patterns, along with ensuring product availability, grocery retailers have had to realign fulfilment strategies to accommodate online orders. Importantly, they have stepped up health and safety measures in the store as well as for doorstep delivery. And they confirm being “well prepared” to meet customer demand during Ramadan and beyond.
