UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL
Keeping sane every day:
I try to wake up every morning around 7am, check my e-mails from the bed and do virtual yoga for 45 minutes, before starting the workday around 9am. Then throughout the day, I try to take short breaks even if it means stepping out to my balcony for some fresh air.
Organising happy hours:
I have been engaging with my team through what we call the “happy hour.”We discuss non-work, non-COVID related stu and have a good laugh. Across the group, several teams are doing similar social activities. It is essential now, more than ever before, to support our team individually and socially, going beyond work. We are trying to organise activities to spark creativity and, importantly, ensure our people are staying well mentally.
Doing what is right during COVID-19:
Most organisations are doing what they can with what they know. The problem is this is an unprecedented crisis, and there is no reference point on what is right and what is not.
But there is a lot of opportunities for organisations to do a lot for their people if they listen carefully. The key is to continually check on people to understand what they need during this time.
