All hotels and restaurants have been directed to temporarily halt entertainment activities starting January 21st until further notice.

The Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) said that the measures were being put in place as a result of an increase in the number of violations during entertainment activities in hotels and restaurants.

“The department will continue to assess the new situation with the health authorities”, DTCM said in its notice.

“Tourism issued more than two hundred violations for noncompliance with the precautionary measures, and closed about twenty facilities", said Dubai Media Office

This means that live bands, DJs, concerts, and other entertainment will now not be permitted in the hotels and restaurants.

More than 3,000 Covid-19 cases have been recorded per day in the

UAE in December compared to around 1,000 per day in December 2020.

When the first Covid-19 lockdown was announced in April 2020, it was predicted that as many as 50% of the 11,000 registered F&B outlets in the country would never operate again.
