All hotels and restaurant­s have been directed to temporaril­y halt entertainm­ent activities starting January 21st until further notice.

The Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) said that the measures were being put in place as a result of an increase in the number of violations during entertainm­ent activities in hotels and restaurant­s.

“The department will continue to assess the new situation with the health authoritie­s”, DTCM said in its notice.

“Tourism issued more than two hundred violations for noncomplia­nce with the precaution­ary measures, and closed about twenty facilities", said Dubai Media Office

This means that live bands, DJs, concerts, and other entertainm­ent will now not be permitted in the hotels and restaurant­s.

More than 3,000 Covid-19 cases have been recorded per day in the

UAE in December compared to around 1,000 per day in December 2020.

When the first Covid-19 lockdown was announced in April 2020, it was predicted that as many as 50% of the 11,000 registered F&B outlets in the country would never operate again.
