Emicool commissions solar farm at premises
dubai — In line with its campaign to support sustainable development in the region which strengthens the company’s position as an innovative and pioneering district cooling entity, Emirates District Cooling (Emicool), a leading district cooling service provider in the region, has announced the commissioning of a solar farm within its premises at Dubai Investment Park (DIP).
The solar farm has been innovatively integrated in the Emicool parking structure with a solar canopy, which provides sun shade for vehicles besides producing ‘green’ electricity. Moreover, the solar farm production complies with entire power requirements of the Emicool head office.
Adib Moubadder, GM of Emicool, said: “We are proud to announce another project completion, among many measures already implemented, while executing our daily operation of district cooling services that is proven as green solution itself. We plan to expand the scope of this farm in the coming months.”
The annual power generation of the solar farm is 101 Megawatthours (MWh) of electricity and will displace an average 50 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually. This energy positively generated leads to a saving of the power needs at Emicool.
With its proven successful track record in four prestigious geographical locations — Dubai Investment Park, Dubai Motor City, Dubai Sports City and Uptown Mirdiff, Emicool currently serves uninterrupted supply of chilled water cooling services produced with the help of innovative and sustainable technology to more than 14,000 customers in its network.
The company was conferred the Dubai Chamber CSR Label earlier this year for its contribution to workplace, marketplace, community and environment. Emicool is a leading district cooling service provider in the UAE. The company was established as a joint venture between Dubai Investments and Union Properties in 2003 with headquarters at DIP.
