Sultan’s book debuts in Italian

Translation of goes on sale

sharjah — the book written by His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, is now available for thousands of Italian readers.

The translation, published this year, debuted at the Italian Collective Stand at the 32nd Sharjah International Book Fair at Sharjah Expo Centre. Printed with the title,

the Italian version went on sale in over 600 book- shops in Italy last Wednesday. On hand at the launch of the book at the Italian Collective Stand was Italian Ambassador Giorgio Starace, who received Shaikh Sultan, who signed copies of his book.

“I had the honour to personally translate into Italian the book by Shaikh Sultan, which we entitled published in Italy by Mondadori, the largest publishing house in Italy: a wonderful experience that I wanted to undertake also to thank a country that for many years has welcomed me and made me feel at home,” translator Carlo Acampora said.

He added that reading the words of Shaikh Sultan enabled the reader to share an exceptional document to understand the roots of many current geo-political phenomena — with an unexpected sense of humour.

“I really hope that Shaikh Sultan, whom I consider an important statesman, might honour us by his presence in Italy in order to present his book to our universities and cultural community,” Acampora said.

The artist Professor Ugo Nespolo, who designed a five-kg 4,000 Euro copy of the 1,000 copies of

published in Italian, also graced the opening.
