Dh54m worth of projects approved for Sharjah, RAK

abu dhabi — The follow-up committee of the initiative­s of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has approved constructi­on of 32 houses for citizens in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, and a series of developmen­t projects valued at Dh54 million in the emirates of Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah.

The committee also approved the awarding of contracts for consultanc­y, services and design for the Shaikh Khalifa Accident and Trauma Hospital in Sharjah, and for the commission­ing of a wastewater treatment plant, sewerage network and internal roads in the Hamra district of Ras Al Khaimah.

The committee gave a green light for these projects during a meeting held at the Ministry of Presidenti­al Affairs under the chairmansh­ip of Ahmed Juma Al Zaabi, Deputy Minister of Presidenti­al Affairs, who said the housing project in Ras Al Khaimah will be designed and built on new sustainabi­lity standards at a total cost of Dh25 million.

As for the Khalifa hospital in Sharjah, he said the project will be awarded to a consortium of internatio­nal and local consultant­s.

He noted that the 175-bed hospital, the first of its kind in the GCC, will provide integrated healthcare for critical trauma and injuries. It will be located on the busy Emirates Road so that it can be easily and swiftly accessed. The total cost of the project is estimated at Dh12.5 million.

Al Zaabi added that the Dh16.5m waste treatment and sewerage facilities in Ras Al Khaimah will be used to irrigate plants. —
