Man invites woman home, molests her, court hears
dubai — A man invited a woman over to his flat following a night out and then allegedly molested her as she was sleeping, a court has heard.
The 37-year- old Egyptian, a manager assistant, is believed to have taken advantage of the fact that the woman was sleeping to sexually assault her. He denied the charge in the Court of First Instance.
The complainant, a 23-yearold British receptionist said she was with her two female friends at a night club in Jumeirah where they joined the accused on the same table.
They all sat together and then he suggested that they accompany him to his place to have dinner.
“Around 5am, we wanted to go home but the fog was thick. The defendant invited us to sleep at his flat,” she told the prosecution.
The complainant slept in the defendant’s bedroom. “As I was sleeping, I felt I was being touched. I opened my eyes to see the accused lying next to me.”
She soon hurried down the building to inform the watchman.
The complainant’s friend, a Latvian waitress, 26, said they went to the defendant’s place on April 3.
She confirmed having seen her friend sleeping, with the accused lying awake next to her.
“The complainant later cried and screamed as she told us that someone touched her.”
According to the criminal evidence report, the complainant’s DNA traces were found on his body. —
