Sana Tufail wins third Montgomerie Championship
dubai — Sana Tufail, winner of the 2011 and 2012 BMW-AGMC Ladies Amateur Open at The Montomerie Golf Club Dubai cruised to her third consecutive win in three years at the Championship venue over the weekend.
Sana led the way with a brilliant 74 gross on the extended ladies tees (5800 yds), with the improving Kim Chiang taking the runner-up slot with a fine 77 gross. In the net division, Peggy O’Dea scored 69 net (88 gross) to take honours over the young Anastasia Bakal who missed out on a gross prize on her home course despite hitting a solid 78 gross ( 70 net). In the individual stableford division Satnum Kaur blew the opposition away with a superb 47 points.
However the day belonged to Sana the 17 year old from BSAK — Abu Dhabi who cruised to her 25th EGF Ladies Open title over the last two years, Sana is now in the illustrious company of previous winners, two of whom who have gone on to play professional golf, including the Scottish Ladies European Tour Player Kylie Walker who won the event in 2008 before joining the professional ranks the following year.
Sana who also won the longest drive with a 270 yard strike, thanked the sponsors AGMCBMW and Nivea for hosting and supporting ladies golf in the region and extended her thanks to fellow player Satnum Kaur for her invitation to play a practice round a few days earlier, “I really enjoyed playing the practice round with Satnum and it really did pay off today to have that extra practice.” Sana said after receiving her trophy.
