UAE signs deals at Hannover Messe
hanover — Under the auspices of Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development, the Hannover UAE pavilion hosted the signing of four agreements by the Higher Corporation for Specialised Economic Zones (ZonesCorp) with a number of companies. Agreements were signed by ZonesCorp CEO Mohammad Hassan Al Qamzi, with a number of the executive directors of the companies.
The UAE’s participation in Hannover Messe 2014 industrial fair was very successful. The pavilion which hosted 35 government and private sector entities, including 19 industrial plants from Abu Dhabi, witnessed a large turnout of visitors.
More than 3,000 people visited the UAE pavilion during the fiveday event of Hannover Messe, which concluded on Thursday.
About 90 per cent of participants at the UAE pavilion reported that their participation was successful and was very positive and that they had the opportunity to meet major European industrial companies to explore possibilities to expand business and avail of the best technical solutions.
As result of these meetings, three major European firms expressed their interest to open branches in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah free zone. Another German company discussed establishing joint venture with Abu Dhabi Envirotech to manufacture products in Abu Dha- bi with an investment of Dh20 million.
The UAE pavilion was privileged with the presence of officials, led by Juma Mubarak Al Junaibi, UAE Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany, Hamad Abdullah Al Mass, the Executive Director of International Economic Relations at Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development, Engineer Ayman Al Makawi, Director General of the Industrial Development Bureau (IDB), Fahad Saeed Al Raqbani, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Council for Economic Development, Mohammad Hassan Al Qamzi, CEO of the Higher Corporation for Specialised Economic Zones (ZonesCorp), Khaled Salmeen Al Kuwari, CEO and Managing Director of Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (Kizad), and a number of senior officials from par- ticipating Government agencies.
ZonesCorp signed the first agreement with Ansaldo Thomassen Gulf LLC within the Vin Mechanics group, which is the largest industrial conglomerate in Italy, specialising in aerospace, defence systems, electronics, transport and construction; with revenues of $16 billion and more than 65,000 employees in 100 countries around the world.
Under this agreement a centre for excellence will be established in Abu Dhabi, for repairing gas turbine rotating blades and other components of gas turbines for the entire region.
The Higher Corporation for Specialized Economic Zones (ZonesCorp), signed another agreement with Ittihad International Investment LLC, which is a private holding and a multi-disciplinary conglomerate, specialised in the manufacture of copper and steel, building materials and chemicals.
The UAE pavilion also witnessed the signing of an agreement between the Higher Corporation for Specialised Economic Zones and United Iron and Steel Company, to establish a factory worth Dh100 million in Kizad for producing 300,000 tonnes of iron and steel, with jobs for more than 250 workers.
The pavilion also saw the signing of an agreement between ZonesCorp and (Jindal SAW), which commands a position in iron and tubular manufacturing, with the aim of establishing a factory in the industrial zone in Abu Dhabi, worth about Dh1.8 billion to produce 200 tons, with nearly 500 workers.
The Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development during Hannover Messe 2014, announced the results of Abu Dhabi Industrial Performance Index 2013, which scored 31 points, reflecting the level of optimism of the industrial establishments about future and present conditions.
Hamad Abdullah Al Mass received the delegation of Moscow District in the Russian Federation, led by Dr Vladimir Markin, Deputy Minister of Investment and Innovation, who hailed UAE’s participation in Hannover this year which reflected the interest and keenness of the Russian government, the delegations and participating companies.
The Saudi delegation valued the experience of UAE in this area, and expressed interest in strengthening communication channels between the two countries in this respect.
