- Staff Reporter

abu dhabi — A 15-year-old boy has been convicted of molesting a girl his age with her consent, and also for driving a vehicle without a driver’s licence. The Abu Dhabi Criminal Court ordered the boy to be placed at a juvenile care centre.

The Court of First Instance, however, cleared the accused of two other charges leveled against him: Kidnap and sexual assault.

According to court records, the victim, who is not yet 15, befriended the accused over social networking site ‘Twitter’ and they started dating each other secretly.

The accused clicked photographs of them together on each date claiming that it would serve as a “record” of their dating period after they get married.

One day, the accused drove his elder brother’s car and stopped in front of the girl’s home. He threatened to make the photos public if she refused to go out with him. Feeling scared, the girl got in the car, which the accused drove to a remote location, where the alleged molestation took place.

On reaching back, the victim told her mother about the incident.

The court clarified that the pillars on which a kidnap crime should be based is not available in this case since the girl got in the car of the accused car near her house “willingly”.
