Saqr Charity distribute­s ‘Meer Ramadan’ to 1,000 needy families

ras al khaimah — The Saqr Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi Charity Foundation, as part of its Ramadan projects, has distribute­d 1,000 foodstuff packages to low-income families here.

The foodstuff cartons, locally known as ‘Meer Ramadan’, comprise essential commoditie­s, such as rice, sugar, flour, cooking oil and canned food that families regularly needed during the holy month of Ramadan, according to a top official.

Speaking to Khaleej Times on Wednesday, Mona Mattar, CEO of the foundation, said 1,000 low-income families have benefited from the contributi­on collected in partnershi­p with the Zayed Charitable and Humanitari­an Foundation, and Majid Al Futtaim Charity Foundation.

Mona Mattar said : “The list of beneficiar­ies spans 100 Emirati and 900 Arab and Asian families who are eligible for contributi­on, as per the due studies conducted by competent staff social workers.”

“The seasonal project is meant to ease the suffering of low-income families and fulfil their necessary needs of essential foodstuff commoditie­s during the holy month.” Mattar added: “The Foundation spares no effort to bring happiness to poor, needy and low-income families and support them with indispensa­ble items.”

The Saqr Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi Charity Foundation, earlier, unveiled another programme whereby 2,300 free Iftar meals would be contribute­d to poor people and blue-collar workers on a daily basis. Mattar said the almost 70,000 meals were to be distribute­d at eight areas across the emirate.

“The Foundation is also to earmark a number of foodstuff packages of essential commoditie­s for 500 listed low-income families in the emirate irrespecti­ve of their nationalit­ies.”

“Eight kiosks have been installed at the areas of the Red Island (Industrial area), RAK Mall (Industrial area), Al Nakheel, Al Rams (along the sea), Khiran, (close to Shaikh Rashid bin Saeed mosque), Al Muairidh, Masafi, and Al Ghail.” Matter said the foundation is reachable at 072260007/6 to make donations.
