dubai — Popular Indian brand Royal Enfield made its debut in Dubai with its concept store and plans to tap the region through this gateway, a top official of the company said.

“Dubai is an important market for Royal Enfield as it is one of the most influentia­l markets in the Middle East-South Asia region and is a global hub of business and transport. In addition to Dubai, currently, we export motorcycle­s to Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and Kuwait,” said Rudratej Singh, president of Royal Enfield.

“Our ambition in the long term is to be a leader in the global midsized motorcycli­ng segment. With 50 per cent growth every year for the last five years, we feel that consumers have several options in the commuter segment and also in the high-end segment,” Singh said.

“However, there are hardly any evocative, beautiful and practical machines in the mid-sized segment. We believe that Royal Enfield with its products will be able to offer a differenti­ated motorcycli­ng experience to two-wheeler enthusiast­s globally.”

In 2014, Royal Enfield manufactur­ed 300,000 motorcycle­s and this year aims to manufactur­e 450,000 units. In 2014, the company purchased acquired a new 50 acre plot at Vallam Vadagal in Chennai for future expansion and is setting up a third manufactur­ing base. The company is planning an investment of Rs600 crores (Dh333 million) for the current year.

“On the business side, Royal Enfield has had a phenomenal run in the past five years, registerin­g 50 per cent year-on-year growth. Royal Enfield’s global ambition is to become the leader in the global mid-sized motorcycli­ng segment. We are the world’s fastest-growing manufactur­er and our growing sales numbers are and a strong order book are a proof of that. Royal Enfield is exporting to 50 countries now and during the past year, we have registered a growth of nearly 50 per cent in our exports markets as well,” added Singh.

Apart from having a very strong fan following in India, Royal Enfield is extremely popular and has a strong fan base across in its heritage market, the UK, and adjoining European market as well as in US and has appointed new dealers in Spain, France, Germany and Colombia.

From the first exclusive store in Dubai, Royal Enfield will be retailing the Continenta­l GT 535cc cafe racer; it’s offering the cruiser segment, the Rumbler, that is built to the needs of the long-distance rider available in 500cc and 350cc; the retro street model Classic with its post-war, classic styling it has a timeless appeal has also been introduced in 500cc and 350cc variants; and the oldest motorcycle in continuous production, the Bullet, available in 500cc and 350cc variants.
