A strong Egypt is support for all Arabs: Mohammed
dubai — His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, received Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi at the Executive Office in Dubai on Tuesday. The two leaders discussed bilateral relations between the two countries.
Shaikh Mohammed affirmed that a stronger Egypt supports the Arab world, adding that Emirati-Egyptian relations are based on the brotherhood, partnership and mutual understanding that was established by the late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and developed by the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Shaikh Mohammed welcomed the Egyptian President to the UAE, indicating that Egypt, its people and leadership are partners of the UAE, especially in the fields of education, culture and economy.
Shaikh Mohammed and Sisi discussed cooperation between the UAE and Egypt for the benefit of both nations. Shaikh Mohammed affirmed the importance of expanding and diversifying cooperation in the areas of economy, investment and development.
Shaikh Mohammed briefed Sisi on UAE Strategy 2021 and the government’s efforts to enhance UAE’s global status and competiveness through a number of organisations that work in harmony.
The Vice-President also briefed the Egyptian delegation on the UAE’s experience in developing and implementing long-term strategies, establishing robust systems and KPIs to monitor government performance, preparing the new generation of leaders and developing programmes to enhance capabilities in quality control and innovation in the government sector. —
abu dhabi — His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Tuesday held talks with visiting Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi on fraternal bilateral ties and a variety of regional and international issues.
Shaikh Mohammed and President Sisi discussed the state of affairs of the bilateral ties and joint strategic cooperation in various domains within the context of the two countries’ commitment to further solidify them.
The two sides also reviewed prospects of joint cooperation and coordination on issues of interest to them in political, economic and development fields.
They affirmed their desire to consolidate the strategic partnerships between them, noting their strength, dynamism and significance at this delicate chapter of the region’s history.
“The UAE, led by the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, underscores its firm, supportive position to Egypt in order to maintain its security and stability and spur its economic and developmental growth,” said Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed.
President Sisi expressed his gratitude to the UAE for the constructive role it plays in backing Egypt and for its honourable standing beside the Egyptian people, for supporting economic and developmental fields, which fuels the engine of growth and bolsters stability.
He wished further progress and development to UAE-Egypt’s ties.
With regards to the Syrian crisis, the two leaders stressed the need for concerted coordination with regional and international powers to end the crisis through political solutions. As far as Yemen is concerned, the two sides discussed the role of the Arab Coalition’s “Operation Restoring Hope” to support the legitimate government in Yemen.
On Libya, Shaikh Mohammed and President Sisi discussed efforts being made by the United Nations to find a peaceful settlement.
The UAE and Egypt also underscored the need for continuing efforts aimed at enforcing Arab solidarity and cooperation so as to address and confront challenges facing the Arab region, protect its capabilities, counter extremism, violence and terrorist organisations and extremist groups that seek undermine pillars of security, peace and stability of countries and their national institutions.
Attending the talks from the UAE were Shaikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy National Security Advisor; Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs; Dr Sultan bin Ahmed Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State, and others.
Present from the Egyptian side were Sameh Shoukry, Egyptian Foreign Minister; and Ashraf Salman, Minister of Investment. —
