Quetta Gladiators have reached the final of the inaugural Pakistan Super League. One of their late recruitments Grant Elliott has played an important role in each match he has featured in so far. He failed to perform with the bat during the one-run victory over Peshawar Zalmi on Friday but he grabbed the crucial wickets including the one of Shahid Afridi to help Quetta reach the final.

While talking to Khaleej Times exclusively, Elliott said: “It is one of the best leagues I have ever played. Atmosphere is phenomenal and quality of cricket is second to none. These are the perfect conditions for cricket and wonderful facilities. It was a full house today and the crowd was vocal. It is the best way to advertise cricket.”

Sir Vivian Richards’ presence is drawing a lot of attention. His passion for the game is still the same as he celebrates every moment of the match.

“The presence of legends like Viv Richards makes a huge difference. It is an honour for me to share the dressing room with the West Indian great. It is going to do a world of good for youngsters of Pakistan.

“We know there is a lot of talent in Pakistan and platform provided by the PSL and guidance by greats like Richards would go a long way to unearth more talent in Pakistan.”

When asked about Pakistan and India clash in the World T20, Elliott said: “The world knows about the fierce rivalry between India and Pakistan in cricket field. Both of the teams have a number of match-winners. The subcontinent rivals are placed in the tough group which includes Australia, New Zealand and Bangladesh and we are in for a tough contest.

“But at the moment I am playing for Quetta Gladiators and we are in the final. I am totally focused on this match and I hope we will overcome the final hurdle to lift the PSL trophy on Tuesday.”
