ajman — The UAE lost another serviceman in a military vehicle accident in Saudi Arabia.

The General Command of the UAE Armed Forces on Sunday morning announced the martyrdom of Obaid Salem Saeed Al Badwawi, who was preparing to take part in the Saudi-led coalition’s Operation Restoring Hope in Yemen.

The 22-year-old, who joined the UAE Armed Forces two years ago, was preparing for his first mission, when the accident happened.

The body of the deceased was flown to the country for burial at his home town Masfut in Ajman. The martyr, the seventh among 12 siblings, was unmarried, according to his brother Abdullah Salem.

Obaid’s parents, who are so proud of the martyrdom of their son, said: “We thank almighty allah for choosing Obaid to be martyred while performing his national duty.”

Obaid’s eight brothers and three sisters, also expressed the same feelings. Though they felt deeply sorry for his unexpected demise, they said: “We are ready to sacrifice our soul and blood for our beloved country.”

abdullah told Khaleej Times that another Emirati serviceman was also injured in the same accident in which his brother Obaid was martyred. “i am not sure about what happened. i heard different stories on the accident, and hence plan to talk to the other serviceman who was with my brother-when the accident took place.”

“He was so happy to be part of the UAE army to defend right, justice and legitimacy.”

abdullah said that Obaid talked with his mother, conveyed regards to all family members, and sought her blessings, just two days before her death.
